Professor Jiann-Liang Chen received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 1989. Since August 2015, he has served as a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Currently, he holds the position of Convener of the Computer Science Division at NSTC, as well as the projects of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Digital Affairs, and other entities. Previously, Prof. Chen was the Dean of the College Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering at NTUST.
His research interests include Computer Network, Wireless Network Technology and Applications, and Software Engineering. Recently focus on two main areas: firstly, fundamental research in "Next Generation Mobile Networks," such as open network architectures for 5G/B5G/6G, novel approaches to network operation and maintenance, Edge Computing, Software-Defined Networking, and the Digital Transformation of practical domains; secondly, the practical and theoretical development of new forms of "Cybersecurity," which integrates Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) with a primary and security defense leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI).
